PwC recognising success
More than 40 private and family owned business representatives came together to recognise the contribution they make to the Midlands at an event hosted by leading professional services firm PwC.
Businesses from across the region recognised the huge contribution that private businesses make to the Midlands economy. Leading business figures joined PwC at Mallory Court, in Leamington Spa, on Wednesday 24 May.
The growth of private business in the Midlands has seen PwC’s dedicated Midlands private business team continue to strengthen, and now has over 300 people dedicated to helping private businesses in the region grow and flourish.
Representatives came from the region’s leading private businesses, including Pertemps, Cosworth, PJ Care, Unipart Group, and others.
Partner and private business leader for PwC in the Midlands, Chris Romans, said: “Our private business team work with a variety of private businesses, from ambitious fast growth start-ups to the complex multinational businesses. This regularly reminds us how diverse and fascinating our private business sector is in the Midlands. And that is why we are recognising the important role and contribution private businesses make in the region and beyond.
“We are proud to recognise the success and achievement within private business, often the unsung heroes, through our UK Private Business Awards, which are in their seventh year. The shortlist will be announced on 9 June and I wish all of the nominees the very best of luck in getting through to the next stage.”
Speaking at the event Sir Peter Rigby, Founder , CEO & Chairman of family-owned Rigby Group plc, and one of the UK’s most respected and successful business leaders, described his journey in building the £1.8bn British success story with over 7,500 employees across the last 41 years.
Stratford-based Rigby Group has built a highly successful businesses operating across Europe and the Middle East. Diversifying from its origins as a principally technology-led business, the Group has evolved through smart, strategic acquisitions.
Speaking to fellow business leaders Sir Peter said: “The Midlands is a critical engine room for the UK as a whole as well as further afield in terms of jobs, investment and growth and private business is an important element of that. As a region, we should be proud of our broader contribution and continue to focus on developing the rights skills, capabilities and entrepreneurial talent which will allow us to further flourish.”
